We're Back...

From Disney World that is. Nope, we didn't fall off the face of the earth for the last week or so, we've been at the "Happiest Place on Earth!" Our family and about 95% of the rest of the free world packed all the fun we could into a 6 day trip at Disney World in Florida. I'm exaggerating a little bit, but it was very crowded. We did have a fun trip, though. Noah had a blast riding all the rides and meeting all the Disney characters- we have autographs from everybody from Buzz Lightyear to Mickey Mouse to Pinnochio. Jackson made it through the trip quite well considering what an upset to his routine it was. I'm pretty sure he wondered what on earth we had gotten him into at times, but he did seem to enjoy lots of it, too. He had fun playing with the noses on Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. He wasn't scared of them at all and had just as much fun meeting them as Noah did. I'm going to try to get pictures of the trip posted in the next couple of days. We have so many that it's going to be hard to pick out which ones to share. Anyway, I've spent most of today just trying to get caught up and back in the groove of things a little bit. We're all very tired and although we had fun on the trip, we're glad to be home, too. I think Jackson is the most tired of us all. He pretty much melted into a little ball when he saw his bed when we got home, and has spent most of today napping. Poor little guy has to catch up on the last week worth of missed naps. Check back in a couple of days and hopefully I'll have some pictures of the trip up!

First Steps!

Jackson took his first steps yesterday! He's still very wobbly and when he realizes what he's doing, he gets scared and stops and sits down to crawl. He tends to try to go too fast and doesn't get his balance well before taking off. In another few days he'll probably be off and running. Okay, so that's the good news. The bad news is that I, his mommy who's been with almost 24/7 for his entire life, missed it! Sorry, but I just have to a little pity party for myself. I work only one night a week, and I do that at night while the kids are sleeping. I had worked Tuesday night, so Mom was over here watching Jackson while I slept a little bit and David worked. So you can guess the rest of the story. Yep- Jackson took his first steps for MawMaw while I was sleeping in the other room. Where's the justice in that one? I did get to see another first later in the day, though. Anybody who's seen Jackson crawl knows that he has a very unique way of doing it- there's no way to describe it if you haven't actually seen it. Last night, though, he took off crawling the "right" way for a change, and I did get to see that. Two firsts in one day! I guess now that he's a year old he thinks he's gotta get the move on to get things done!

School Picture

Here's our big boy looking all grown up in his school picture! He's learning lots at preschool this year- at least I think he is. He does a very good job on all the papers that he brings home. Most of the time when I ask him "What did you do at school today?", rather than tell me about it, he just says "Look in my backpack." I pretty much have to pick details out of him. We have a homework assignment every week to look for pictures that start with the letter that they are studying and glue them to his letter page. (They are making a book of the whole alphabet.) Sometimes this project goes pretty well, other times we butt heads over it. It amazes me how much he'll let other people teach him things, but when I try to help, he wants no part of it! Overall, though, I think he's doing great and should be more than ready for kindergarden next year.

What a Difference a Year Makes!

Just had to add a picture from the day Jackson was born to compare him to now. Can you believe have much he's grown and changed? The first year is a very busy time for a baby!

Happy Birthday Jackson!!

Jackson turned 1 year old today! We can't believe that it's been a year since he came to complete our family. He's grown from 6#10oz to somewhere around 22#. We haven't seen him take any real steps yet, but he should be walking anytime. He's standing up on his own a good bit, but when he realizes what he's doing he sits right back down. Talking is his thing right now. He still babbles a lot, but says several words too. His favorite is "Dadada" and sometimes "Dadeeee!" He's changed so much over the last year, and has changed our family, too. Noah was so excited the day he was born, and has stepped into the role of big brother so well. He's never been jealous at all, watches Jackson like a hawk to "protect" him, and overall just loves him to pieces. Jackson seems to adore Noah just as much. He wants to be where Noah is and play with what Noah's got all the time. We had a birthday party after church today. Jackson had lots of fun digging into his cake with both hands and eating it up. He got lots of fun presents, too. We'll hopefully have some pictures up tomorrow of the big event, but couldn't let October 5th pass by without a Happy Birthday post! So Happy Birthday little buddy!!! We love you!!!

We're Still Here...

Just wanted to post a quick note to say that we haven't fallen off the face of the earth, we're just having computer issues. Our internet is apparently working fine, because on David's work laptap, we have no problems. The home laptap is evidently the problem because I can't seem to access the internet from it. The problem with that is that all of our pictures download into the home computer, so I can't post them yet. I've gotten some cute ones this week- the kids playing outside, and one of Jackson today raiding the pantry! Yes, I left the door open and he completely cleared out the bottom shelf. I found him eating through the plastic on the bag of marshmellows. I can't get one kid to eat, and I can't get the other to stop! Anyway, hopefully we'll have everything up and running again soon. I hope so anyway- Jackson's birthday is Sunday, so you know I'll have lots to show then. Check out Lori or Rebecca's block for pictures of Girl's Night Out at Logan's tonight. It's been a couple of months since we got together, and all though only a few could make it, we still had a great time. Thanks Lori for putting it together for us!
